Northwest Natural

Goals: Clients hoped to gain space by eliminating the underused tub with a larger custom shower. Change the original Victorian vanity to one that reflected the clients’ preferences. Solve the hot water delivery problem. Eliminate the “cute” wall covering.

Use of a cherry cabinet with reed center panels helps to bring natural materials into this room. Cambria countertops in “Windsor” and a ceramic tile backsplash with fossil like decorative accents add another layer of beautiful materials to this important area of the bathroom. The earthy, warm brown color of the floor tile in its diagonal layout expands the feeling of space in the narrow area.

This shower was lengthened so that the need for a door was eliminated. The glass block extension adds light from the adjoining space. Toiletry niches provide a convenient landing spot for the necessary shower supplies. For added physical pleasure, a natural pebble tile floor was used inside the wet area. The clients enjoy the gentle foot massage every time they shower. The floor area outside the shower has an under-tile heat mat for an added touch of luxury.
